Lower Back Extension - SFCC


From a position on your hands and knees, start from a neutral spine position. From here, do some warm-up repetitions of back extensions arching your low back and pressing your stomach towards the floor. The next movement comes from a stomach lying position on the floor. Using your elbows and forearms to prop your upper body up, press up from the floor into extension. If tolerable, progress into using full arm extension to further press up into back extension. Gently work your way towards pressing into full-back extension. The last movement demonstrated is the superman position. The goal is to lift legs, arms, and torso off of the ground into extension through activation of your low back extensor muscles.
